NOVEMBER 2023:

PRESS RELEASE:

REDEYE MAGAZINE RETURNS AT THOUGHTBUBBLE 2023
The highly regarded magazine dedicated to promoting independent comics returns this November in print and digital with the 60 page REDEYE 2024 Annual (£3/$4, PRINT, £1 PDF).

The lineup for the latest incarnation of the magazine includes: cover star Gustaffo Vargas, the spicy Peruvian talking about returning to the streets of future Lima City in Anticucho; Time Bomb Comic chiefs Dave West, Steve Tanner and David Morris talk about bringing independent anthologies back to the newsstand; writer Joel Meadows and artist Andy Bennett talk about having the Worlds Greatest Consulting Detective face homegrown fascism in their alternate history graphic novel Sherlock Holmes and the Empire Builders; co- founder of Comics Youth Rhiannon Griffiths MBE talks about how comics are saving lives in marginalised communities with Graphic Medicine; and artist Beck Kubrick and writer Christof Bogacs cross timezones to talk making friends on Twitter, crowdfunding and intense work ethics on Meat4Burgers: Welcome to Burgatory.

PREVIEW PAGES:

The Annual is a test of the waters for the editor to see if there is an appetite still for this type of magazine, and if so future issues will include more interviews, reviews and articles. Renshaw asks for readers and creators alike to get in touch via email (mrbarryrenshaw@gmail.com) and be involved.

PREVIEW PAGES:

Engine Comics will also make scans of the previous issues, long out of print, available to download “in all their messy, typo-filled, naive but well intentioned glory” says Renshaw. To buy PRINT and PDF versions of our titles go to https://enginecomics.gumroad.com/

AUGUST 2023

INFORMATION FOR REDEYE ANNUAL 2024 CONTRIBUTIONS

Thanks for your interest in the relaunch of REDEYE. As you may know, the magazine had an explicit mandate to promote the best of independent and self published comics, in print or digital, dividing each issue into sections: news items, previews of upcoming books, interviews and features, and I’m looking to continue that format with the annual and future editions. The Annual will be available in print and digital editions at the Thoughtbubble Comics Festival 2023.
I’ve given some information below for what I would need to include your work due to be published in or after November 2023.
The deadline for inclusion of all materials is 1st September 2023.  The magazine will be in A4 format.
NEWS ITEMS (this is a free section):
A press release with a synopsis of the work, release date, price, distribution method, contact details, and brief biographical information on the creators involved. If this is not the first publication from the creators or the publisher, please include references to previous work if appropriate. News items should run between 300 to 500 words but may be edited for clarity and space. A minimum of 3 interior pages and the cover are required, must be SFW and correctly sized at 300dpi. Company logos as separate jpegs are welcome. No other image or file formats please.
EYECANDY (this is a free section):
This one full page selected to represent the upcoming work, with a boxout on the side with the synopsis of the comic, release date, price, distribution method, contact details, and brief biographical information on the creators involved. One interior page and the cover are required, must be SFW and correctly sized at 300dpi. Company logos as separate jpegs. No other image or file formats please. These pages are limited to six per issue and are on a first come first served basis. No other image or file formats please.
EXTENDED PREVIEWS:
For a more substantial preview, there are the centre 4 pages of the magazine for use. Artwork must be SFW, provided as a complete flat PDF or JPEG in full 300dpi resolution, and are priced at £300 for the block of 4 pages. Printing specs will be provided prior to payment.
ADS:
Ad space is limited in the magazine. Ads are subject to editorial approval and should be provided as a complete flat PDF or JPEG in full 300dpi resolution, and are priced at the following:
BACK COVER: £250
INSIDE BACK COVER: £200
INTERIOR FULL PAGE: £150
INSIDE HALF PAGE (LANDSCAPE ONLY) £100
